OWLs Magical Readathon TBR // A TBR I Can Actually Manage
Hello friends! I hope you’re all doing well amidst the global pandemic we’re dealing with. Our uni holidays have been extended, which leaves me with a lot of time to read actually. So as per usual, I will be taking part in the OWLs Magical Readathon hosted by Book Roast. I’m not going to explain how it all works, you can check out her video explaining everything here!
So for the OWLs I have decided to follow the Mage of the Visual Arts Career. This career has four OWLs that you need to sit, namely Astronomy, Charms, Divination and History of Magic. I will be reading some other books in between, especially a few ARCs that I want to get to, but my OWL books are my priorities. Let’s jump in.

Astronomy
The first OWL I’m taking is Astronomy. The prompt for this one is “read majority of this book when it’s dark outside” and I figured this would be the perfect time to get to Daisy Jones and the Six. I’ve been meaning to read this one since it came out and it’s just been sitting on my TBR. It’s time to read it.
Charms
The prompt for this one is “read a book with a white cover”. I recently saw An Unkindness of Magicians on booktube and I was super eager to read it, so I downloaded the audiobook on Scribd and I’m giving it a go. Check out the synopsis below:
There is a dark secret that is hiding at the heart of New York City and diminishing the city’s magicians’ power in this fantasy thriller by acclaimed author Kat Howard.
In New York City, magic controls everything. But the power of magic is fading. No one knows what is happening, except for Sydney—a new, rare magician with incredible power that has been unmatched in decades, and she may be the only person who is able to stop the darkness that is weakening the magic. But Sydney doesn’t want to help the system, she wants to destroy it.
Sydney comes from the House of Shadows, which controls the magic with the help of sacrifices from magicians.
Divination
I don’t think I’d actually take divination if I’d gone to Hogwarts, but the prompt for this one has to be one of the easiest prompts on the list. The prompt is “random number generator”, so I assigned a number to all my TBR books and I let Siri pick a number. The book we landed on was Rise of Kyoshi. I am a huge Avatar The Last Airbender fan, and this book tells the story of Avatar Kyoshi, who features in the ATLA series. I’m super excited about this book.
History of Magic
The last subject for the Mage of the Visual Arts is History of Magic, the prompt being “read a book with witches and wizards.” I’ve settled on Serpent and Dove, which I’ buddy reading with the amazing Tessi.
Are you joining the OWLs? Which career will you be following?
